The act of commissioning a stained glass window, glass splashback or glass artwork can be a very satisfying experience. The first step is just to call us or come into the studio and tell us what you want. We will ask you lots of questions like, what is the colour scheme of the space the item will be going into? What size do you want? If it is a window do you want it to obscure the neighbours next door?
We will show you lots of pictures of our previous commissions to try a get a feel for whether you like curves and bold colours or straight lines and subtle shades. It is often easier for clients to tell us what they don't want rather than what they do, and this process of elimination is very useful to us.
After this initial meeting we will have a good idea of the direction we are heading in, and the next stage is to draw up some designs and post them out to you. Sometimes the client will love the design as soon as they see it but we often need to tweak the design here and there until you are completely satisfied. Remember it's your commission.
Once the design is finalised we will take a 50% deposit, order any
glass required and start making the item. By the time we have
finished you will have a specially created work of glass that
wouldn't have been possible without your help
(and ours too of course).
Commissions can be large or small but we approach them all
with one aim, that when you see the final piece, it is all you
ever hoped for, and more.
